Marc

Marc G Chevrette, PhD
Marc is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, Resident Discovery Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, and Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Bacteriology, all at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to UW, Marc was an Assistant Professor in Microbiology & Cell Science at the University of Florida, a postdoctoral associate in the Handelsman lab at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, and Head of Experimental Genomics at Warp Drive Bio (now Ginkgo Bioworks).

Research Staff

Julia

Julia Nepper, PhD
Julia is the lab manager for the Chevrette lab, where she supports the day-to-day research operations in the lab to keep things running safely and seamlessly. Prior to joining the Chevrette lab, Julia was a postdoctoral associate in the Handelsman lab at UW-Madison, before which she worked as a Science Writer for Promega Corporation in Fitchburg, WI. Her research experience is concentrated in bacteriology and molecular biology, but has also included collaborations with researchers in science communication and education.

Postdoctoral Associates

Andres

Andrés Cumsille, PhD
Andrés is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Plant Pathology and the Wisconsin Insitute for Discovery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining the Chevrette Lab, Andrés was associated with the Cámara Lab at UTFSM in Chile. He brings extensive experience in utilizing genomics and metabolomics for the study of secondary metabolites in bacteria.

Graduate Students

Murrel

Murrel Saldanha
Murrel is a Ph.D. student in the Biophysics Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has worked as a research assistant at University of South Florida where she used chemogenomic approaches to identify novel drug candidates and drug targets against malaria. She is interested in using genome mining to contribute to drug discovery and global AMR efforts.
